When purchasing GreenPower™ from COzero, you are actually purchasing electricity generated from Wind Farms that include the Mt Millar Wind Farm in South Australia and the Alinta Wind Farm in Western Australia.
The Mt Millar Wind Farm
Eyre Peninsula’s biggest wind farm – the Mt Millar Project – is situated on an escarpment between the towns of Cowell and Cleve located 100 kilometres southwest of Whyalla, South Australia.
The $130 million project was developed by Tarong Energy Corporation Ltd, which has interests in both Queensland and South Australia (including South Australia’s first wind farm at Starfish Hill).
The 35 wind turbines are positioned on the elongated Mt Millar site (about 7 kilometres in length) to maximise wind exposure.
The wind farm can generate up to 70 megawatts of electricity from its 35 wind turbines and will provide enough energy to meet the needs of about 36,000 typical households.
The Mt Millar Wind Farm connects to ElectraNet’s existing transmission network at Yadnarie Substation, via a new 33km 132kV overhead transmission line and substation.

The Alinta Wind Farm
The Alinta Wind Farm, Western Australia's largest renewable energy project, provides 90 megawatts of power into the grid that supplies Perth and the South West. Just south of Geraldton in Western Australia's Mid-West region, the wind farm boasts 54 of the world's largest wind turbines.
Each year the Alinta Wind Farm will displace 400,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases that would normally be produced by fossil fuel based power generation methods. This is the equivalent of removing 80 000 cars off the roads each year.
Alinta teamed up with leading Australian wind farm developer, Renewable Power Ventures (RPV) for this project. RPV developed and is now operating the Alinta Wind Farm. Alinta has an agreement with RPV to take all the electricity produced by the wind farm for sale to Alinta retail customers.
The Alinta Wind farm is an important part of Alinta's goal to supply cleaner and cheaper electricity in Western Australia.
